Taking the health services to a new high, the State Government on Tuesday inked an MoU with the Glocal Health Care Systems (P) Limited for operation and management of 102 digital dispensaries in remote areas of 23 districts in the State. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here.

“We have decided to use technology to bring the services of doctors to the doorsteps of the people in difficult-to-reach areas through digital dispensaries. Last year, 30 such dispensaries were started in Nabrangpur and Keonjhar districts on a pilot basis. This model has received a positive response with over one lakh patients receiving free healthcare till date. In fact, we are the only State providing comprehensive care through digital dispensaries,” the Chief Minister said and expressed happiness that the model was up-scaled to another 102 dispensaries.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with some beneficiaries of the digital dispensaries at Nabarangpur and Keonjhar.

Each digital dispensary has provision for an MBBS doctor consultation through video conference facility. In addition, a Pharmacist, Nurse, Laboratory Assistant and Support staff are in place in each dispensary. The dispensaries are equipped with minimum set of investigations such as routine testing of urine, blood, haemoglobin, blood sugar, malaria, dengue, BP, ECG, sP02, pregnancy detection etc. and a Pharmacy facility with dispensing of generic medicine. All these services are provided free of cost to the people, under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
