MP players bag title of ‘Over All Champions’

Madhya Pradesh players bagged the title of Over All Champions after showcasing brilliant performance in Junior National Rowing Competition. Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy's rowing players won four gold and two silver medals in the championship.

Madhya Pradesh became the All-India champions in the 40th Junior National Rowing Competition being held at Bhopal's Upper Lake from October 11. The team won with four gold, two silver and six medals and 26 points. With two gold, one silver medal and 13 points, Odisha finished second and Kerala with one gold, two silver medals and 11 points secured third place.

These academy players won medals in the junior girls singles skull competition of the competition. Academy player Anshika Bharti and in the boys category Nitesh Bhardwaj gave Madhya Pradesh one gold medal each. In the boys' double skull event, the academy's pair of Pradyuman Mandal and Prabhakar Rajawat earned gold. While in the boys' class four team event, academy players Vijay Pal Singh, Aditya Singh, Vedanta Kulshrestha and Mehul Krishnani won the gold medal.

Similarly, in the girls' double skull event of the competition, the academy's pair of Mohini Rackwar and Monika Bhadauria earned silver medal. While in the Junior Men's Pair event, the pair of Academy players Gopal Thakur and Yogesh Thakur gave the silver medal to Madhya Pradesh. The said player is trained under the guidance of Captain Dalbir Singh Rathore, chief instructor of Rowing Academy.

Expressing the contentment on this achievement Director Sports and Youth Welfare SL Thoussen said that the players of State are bringing laurels to the State by performing brilliantly at national and international platforms. He encouraged the players to perform similarly in other championships.
