N’garh teacher held taking bribe

Chittaranjan Panda, Assistant Teacher and In-Charge Headmaster, Natabara Prasad ME School under Khandapada block in Nayagarh district was arrested while accepting bribe and forwarded to court on Wednesday.

Panda was remanded to the judicial custody till August 27.

On the basis of a complaint by Pratap Chandra Pati, Assistant Teacher, Basantapur Primary School under Khandapada Block, the vigilance sleuths laid a trap on August 13.

He was taking Rs 1,000 from Pati for processing his Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) application for sanction of MACP through Block Education Officer, Khandapada.  

In this connection, the Bhubaneswar Vigilance registered a case.
