Nadda accorded warm welcome

The national working president of the BJP, JP Nadda was accorded a warm welcome by the party workers and leaders on his arrival here on Saturday. He was received by the speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly Premchand Agarwal, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, president of State BJP Ajay Bhatt, State in- charge and national vice president Shyam Jaju, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama and others at Dehradun Airport on his arrival in Dehradun on the day.

The enthusiastic workers of the party welcomed Nadda at various places on the entire route from Airport to State office of the BJP.

At the party office the officiating president addressed a joint meeting of the party functionaries, district presidents and district in-charges of the party.

In his address, Nadda exhorted the party workers to expose Congress president Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders who tried to mislead the people by their wrong statements. He said that the party leaders and workers should undertake a through introspection and put their ideas with firmness before people.

Nadda directed them to place quality before quantity while selecting party workers. He said that the programmes of the party should not be mere ceremonial in nature and emphasis should be to ensure presence of five new workers in these meetings. Nadda also stressed on the need of giving respect to old workers and getting influential people into the party fold.

On Jammu & Kashmir, the BJP president said that 106 such laws which were earlier nonexistent in Jammu & Kashmir were implemented after the article 370 was abrogated. These laws have made life of people easy there. He said that in the elections of BDC held just after removal of article 370, the BJP won 81 out of 300 seats while the Congress party was able to win on only one seat. He added that the BJP candidates also secured victories in the terrorism infested Shopian and Kupwara districts. Nadda asked the party leaders to spread such information in public which media has failed to do.

Welcoming the working president, the CM Trivendra Singh Rawat remembered the time when Naddha campaigned for Premchand Agarwal when he contested on the post of president of DAV college students union in the year 1984. He said that now after 35 years, Naddha is the working president of the party. The CM said that the BJP is the only party which understands the value of the workers and assigns them important responsibilities. He said that large number of young workers of the party has won in the recently held Panchayat elections and a workshop to train them would be organised in Nainital. Rawat added that Uttarakhand government has taken many measures for getting rid of single use plastic. National joint general secretary organisation, Shiv Prakash said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi should seek apology for his remarks and wrong statements on the Rafale fighter deal.

He said that the BJP would hold demonstrations at all district headquarters of the country on the issue on Saturday.

Later in the day Nadda also took a meeting of the members of the parliaments (MP) and MLAs.
