Chief Minister Kamal Nath will hoist the flag at a State level progamme in Motilal Nehru Stadium on the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day. The programme will begin at 9 am.
Freedom fighters and families of jawans of the state who laid down their lives in the Kargil war will be invited at the state level ceremony. Prior to this, the Chief Minister will pay tributes to the martyrs at Shaurya Smarak.
A combined parade of Police, SAF CISF, Jail Guards, Homeguards, Scout and Guides and Shaurya Dal will be organized in the state level ceremony.
The Guard of Honour will be presented to the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister will read out his message to the people.
All public buildings and monuments of national importance of the state will be illuminated with decorative lights on the nights of August 14- and 15 on the occasion of Independence Day.
A cultural programme based on patriotism will be organized in the open stage at Ravindra Bhavan on August 15 in the evening. The ceremony will be held in government offices and educational institutions of the capital at or before 8 am.
