The concluding day of the two-day national conference on ‘VOICES OF THE UNHEARD : PUTTING THE LAST FIRST’ started off with Session 3 that focussed on Vulnerable Population Groups. Session Moderator Dr. N. Sahoo ( Faculty of Rural Management, XISS) introduced and welcomed the Session Chair & Speaker, Dr. Alka Nizamie (Academic Director, Deepshikha) with saplings.
Dr Nizamie introduced barriers which the disabled population face especially women and children. She stated that disability is a form of human diversity and how government has been helping them. She also mentioned mental health disabilities and talked about the facilities provided by the government catering out to the sufferers.
Paper presenters and unheard voices were then invited on stage, who spoke on use of Telemedicine to reduce the burden of diseases on the aging population, Voices from Ranchi's Sacrificial Zone, unheard Voices from the slums of Mumbai.
Ajit Kumar, Convener, Disability Rights Forum, Jharkhand. Here various international & national laws on disabilities were discussed and the people with disabilities have access to these facilities. One should be sensitized to disability and differently abled people. Sita Ram Mandal, Akshay Bujurg Mahasangh discussed how they were not given much facilities by the Government to which this organisation was formed. Mukesh Kanchan, captain of Indian Disability Cricket Team was also present and was welcomed with his team with saplings.
He discussed his various achievements in forming various teams for the country for various sports irrespective of confining to cricket. The session 2 was organized with the theme community-led approach to Child Protection Coordinated by Rajeev Sinha, Plan India. The conference was concluded with Valedictory Session which was coordinated by Soumi Halder & Mahadev Hansda, Save the Children who invited dignitaries on stage and welcomed them with saplings.
Introduction of Chief guest was by was given by Fr. Pradeep Kerketta, Assistant Director, XISS, Valedictory Speech was given by Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Sharan, Vice-Chancellor, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand who majorly focused on the importance of hearing voices of unheard especially of women.
Further, he focused on development & empowerment of women, SDG goals and is literacy making development in our society.
