Outlawed rebels set ablaze at least three heavy weight machines of Allied Infrastructure & Project company engaged in bridge construction work in near Dania railway station in Jhumra’s Bokaro district, Bokaro SP P Murugan said on Saturday.
“Around 25 -30 armed Naxals last night stormed at just before Dania railway station near Bokaro river on the Gomoh-Barkakana route, which then they reached at construction site,where the work on railway bridge is going on and torched one poclain machine, one Generator set and two mixture machines,” the SP said.
After reaching the construction sites in areas falling under the Jageshwar Bihar and Lalpania police station limits, the ultras threatened the labourers there and asked them to leave the place. The Maoists then set the machines afire and fled into the forests, said Murugan.
According to reports among the torched heavy weight machines, belonging to Allied Infrastructure & private construction companies, were generator, Poclain machines and mixing machines were burnt by the rebels, he said.
Bokaro security personnel rushed to the attack sites following information from the labourers and a combing operation was launched to nab the ultras, the SP added.
Bokaro superintendent of police told the pioneer over phone that the incident occurred at 9 pm on Friday,a group of armed Naxals stormed the construction site, located around 60 km from district head quarter and threatened the labourers to stop the work,he said. The ultras then set ablaze three machines before fleeing the spot, they did crime only for levy, added SP.
