Sunday, 08 December 2019 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Chief Minister Kamal Nath has said that in the present context, there is a need to make improvements in the Judiciary, Executive and Legislature for a strong democracy. The biggest challenge before us today is that everyone should get justice, get it on time and there should be equality.

The Chief Minister was addressing a seminar organised by the Confederation of Alumni of National Law Universities Foundation (CAN) in the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Auditorium.

Nath said that our existing system has to be seen in the context of the changes going on in every field. He said that freedom and equality are the basis of unity of our country, which we provide to the people through the judicial system.

The Chief Minister said that today the challenge is how we should go with the changes taking place in the world and how we succeed in adopting them. One of the challenges is also that how improvements have to be made in the Executive and Judiciary according to the changes. He said that we have a huge number of entrepreneurs. We have maximum young human resources. Till ten years ago, youth had limited access to knowledge and technology.

Today it has increased due to internet. The Chief Minister said that how this change should be adopted by the judiciary, executive and legislature is a challenge.

Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Narmada Prasad Prajapati said that how the judiciary and the legislature should come together to give better system to the people should be seriously considered. Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Justice AK Mittal said that along with infrastructure for justice, we also have to bring fundamental changes in the judicial system with time. Along with bringing judicial awareness, the judicial system will also have to be improved at the ground level.

He said that law students and advocates have to jointly bring about changes in their work functioning and improve judicial system. He said that a policy should be made that students pursuing law should do internship in rural areas for a year. This will enable us to know people’s expectations. He said that law students can make a career through their education but they should have a sense of duty as this education is related to meting out justice to people.
