Within a month of inauguration the new railway foot overbridge at the Tatanagar railway station has added to the woes of passengers, especially the elderly ones and differently abled.
The new foot overbridge was inaugurated last month by Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto.
But, the Rs 1.96 crore foot bridge has been closed for the last two days due to some repair work." It was urgent to repair.
The overbridge was closed for some renovation work . The engineering wing has plans to put up granite on the stairs. We wanted to enhance the look," said H K Balmuchu, director of Tatanagar railway station. Officials of the railway station informed that the second foot overbridge is designed to help passengers to enter into platform no. 2, 3, 4 and 5.
The second foot overbridge would be later extended upto the Burmamines end, which serves as the second entry to the Tatanagar railway station.
The engineering wing of Chakradharpur railway division began work on the foot overbridge project in December, 2017.
The project missed two deadlines. In the last deadline the railways had promised to commission the project before the Pujas.
But, it couldn't due to the metallising work ( putting a coat with thin layer of metal for preventing rust ) which took much time.
