Team Kunal Azmani emerged victorious in the much-awaited Executive Committee elections of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) which was conducted on Sunday.
The polling continued till six in the evening after which the counting was done and the results were declared by night.
Former FJCCI president and Supervisor of the polling, Bishnu Budhia informed that the new executive committee will be formed within five days. “Talks are going on with all winning members. A meeting to elect executive committee will be held within five days. Election Supervisory Body is informing all winning members about the meeting in which new executive committee will be elected. During the meeting it will be decided who will be the new president and other office bearers,” he said.
The two teams contesting elections were led by incumbent Secretary General FJCCI Kunal Azmani and noted businessmen Kishore Mantri, respectively. A total of 18 members were elected from Azmani group and three members elected from Mantri group. One woman member Puja Dhadha was also elected for the traders’ body executive committee.
This was the 57th Executive Committee election of FJCCI since its inception in 1960. Budhia said that a total of 3414 members of the trader community elected the 21 member committee. Of the elected member people will be appointed on various posts including a president, two vice presidents, a secretary general, honorary secretary, two joint secretaries and one treasurer after the meeting. “Other than this, 6 vice presidents will be elected from their respective regions from the State. Rest of the elected members will be executive committee members,” he added.
The election was cancelled on its scheduled date on September 8 following technical glitches in the polling system and was re- conducted on September 15. This was for the first time that computerized voting system was introduced in the FJCCI elections.
