The ambitious scheme of Chhattisgarh government Narwa Garwa Ghurwa Bari (NGGB) is taking shape in Surguja district.
As per the official information, the day care centre for cattle under this project is quickly taking shape in about 57 villages of the district. Already Rs 4.5 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of day-care centres under the MNREGA.
“To build the cattle day-care centre, such spots have been selected which already have green cover so that the bovine could easily get natural shades of trees,” a district administration official said, while adding construction of shed, fodder store room, installation of tube-well, solar pump, making pasture and other required facilities available are in the process.
Vermi compost pits and plantation drive are also under progress, officials stated.
These centres will be managed by women self-help-groups which will be named as ‘Gauthan Management Committee’.
They are being roped-in so that their financial condition could be improved via the sale of bio-fertilizers produced from vermi-compost.
The urine and cow-dung will be collected for processing and sale.
