NIA refuses to share Jheeram case file

Wednesday, 13 February 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Chhattisgarh government has received a setback on Tuesday after the Central government has refused to hand over the case files of National Investigation Agency (NIA) related to Jheeram Valley massacre.

Addressing the media in state assembly premises, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “We had sought from Central Government to return the files related to Jheeram Valley incident from NIA. But with great disappointment, it is to be informed that through a letter today the central government has refused.”

He further stated, “Jheeram massacre was not a normal incident. It was a ‘supari killing.”

“The door for the court is open,” he said.

Congress after forming government with massive mandate in state through a cabinet decision had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the Jheeram Valley massacre in which 31 Congress leaders were martyred in May 2013.
