Police here have decided to initiate legal proceedings to declare the parents of arrested Lipan Sahu as absconders as the former have failed to serve summons to the latter.
Lipan Sahu is the husband of TV actress Laxmipriya Behera alias Nikita, who died last week after falling from the terrace of her parents’ house at Mahanadi Vihar here. The parents of Lipan are facing the charge of domestic violence on the basis of an FIR filed by Nikita’s father.
“Since the couple is now not living in their house and the house is locked from outside, police have not been able to serve them the summons notice till date,” said Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh on Saturday. Police would now paste the notice on the door of their house and then take further legal action in this connection.
Sources said the parents of Lipan have moved the Orissa High Court seeking advance bail.
