Nine faculty members of the department of ‘Electrical and Electronics Engineering’ of the ‘School of Engineering (SOE), of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) have been awarded with the title of Certified Trainers’ by the Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) for the power distribution areas.
The senior director UPES, Arun Dhand said that the Power Sector Skill Council is promoted by the Ministry of Power (MoP) through Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) and with the necessary support by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
A ceremony to felicitate the qualifying faculty members was held at the University campus recently.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of UPES, Dr Deependra Jha emphasized on including more skill oriented courses for students in their curriculum to enhance their employability prospects.
Expressing her delight on the UPES Faculty’s accomplishment, the registrar UPES, Dr Veena Dutta said that the current ‘Training of Trainers’ was rolled out under the terms of the MoU signed between UPES and PSSC to train the faculty and students of UPES Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department on the power system skills
