Saturday, 25 May 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik on Friday stepped down from his post owning moral responsibility for the party’s debacle in the elections.

He sent his resignation letter to All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi.

Notably, the Congress has won a mere nine Assembly seats against its 2014 tally of 16. This is the party’s worst performance ever in the State. The party has slipped to the third position in the legislature.

Moreover, Patnaik lost in both the Assembly seats, Bhandaripokhari and Ghasipura, where he contested.
