The Union Human Resource Development Minister and Haridwar MP, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank presided over a meeting of the district development coordination and monitoring committee here on Tuesday. In the presence of the district magistrate Deependra Kumar Chaudhry, he sought information from various departmental officials concerned about execution of different governmental schemes.
Nishank sought information about the execution of Centrally funded Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Jyoti Yojana, National Health Mission, Integrated Child Development Scheme, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, national rural drinking water programme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachchh Bharat Mission, MNREGA and other schemes.
Seeking information on the execution and the status of works under these schemes, the Minister also discussed the problems being faced in execution and solutions for the same in detail.
Reviewing the progress of national highway construction by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Nishank directed the officials concerned to speed up execution of this work. He also directed them to send weekly progress reports related to the construction of national highway.
The Jwalapur MLA Suresh Rathore complained about threat faced by the wildlife due to lack of corridor for wild animals on the Haridwar-Dehradun national highway. The Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan complained about accidents being caused by potholes near Sinhdwar on Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar highway and improper condition of the road in Jwalapur.
Taking cognisance of this, the Haridwar MP directed the NHAI project director Vibhav Mittal to ensure the necessary repairs. The project director informed that the work on the highway from Haridwar to Dehradun will be completed by August 2020.
Nishank also sought information about action taken on past directions to Social Welfare department against those taking pension in the name of deceased persons and ineligible beneficiaries of pension scheme. Departmental officials informed that four such persons were found to be receiving pension. Negative entry was marked in the records of the employees responsible. Camps are being held in every block to inform citizens and benefit them under the pension scheme.
Nishank also directed the district magistrate to inquire and take action within two days in the case of a 20 year old in Laksar being provided with old age pension.
He also directed that a detailed project report be prepared and submitted for benefitting 250 villages from the Iqbalpur canal under the Pradhan Mantri agriculture irrigation scheme.
He also talked to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on the phone on this issue. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister assured all possible assistance in this case. Nishank directed the Haridwar district magistrate to regularly monitor the Iqbalpur canal work.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Saroj Naithani informed the minister about the effect of the shortage of doctors and medical staff in the district. Reacting to this, Nishank phoned the director general of health to take necessary action while also working on facilitating additional resources and appointments of doctors in view of the Kumbh Mela to be held here in 2021.
Reviewing works under various other departments, the minister stressed on the need for publicising Central Government schemes and ensuring benefit of the same to eligible citizens.
Public representatives from the district and district level officers were also among those present in the meeting.
