To protest against the arrest of Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government when she was trying to enter Sonbhadra, the site of a massacre in which ten persons were killed, the activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI) burned an effigy of UP government at DAV-PG College here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of the NSUI Mohan Bhandari said that the way bullets were sprayed on hapless villagers in Sonbhadra proves that the UP government has failed miserably in controlling crime and the condition of law and order in UP has reached its lowest point.
He said that when the Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi wanted to visit Sonbhadra and meet the families of victims, she was stopped and arrested by the UP Government. Bhandari said that the NSUI workers held protest in all parts of the state to express their anger on the episode.
Student leaders Bhupendra Negi, Ayush Gupta, Sandeep Singh, Nityanand Kothiyal, Aditya Bisht and others were present on the occasion.
