Cuttack-born Odia girl Chelsi Behura, who has already proved her mettle in singing reality shows like ‘Rising Star’ and ‘Indian Idol Junior’, has again made it to ‘Indian Idol 11’.
The 16-year-old girl is among the final 15 contestants, who will now battle it out to be crowned the winner of the season.
A resident of Sikharpur in Cuttack, Chelsi impressed judges Anu Malik, Neha Kakkar and Vishal Dadlani in the audition round with her performance. She sang ‘Main Pareshaan’ from the movie ‘Ishaqzaade’ and got the Golden Ticket to the Theatre Round. Enthralled by her voice, Neha Kakkar said, “I am surprised that at such a young age, you are singing so amazingly. I can see you being the next singing sensation of our country.”
Chelsi again mesmerised the judges and secured her place in Top 15 as she performed ‘Offo, Ise Daant Ke Bhagaun’ from the movie ‘Two States’. Chelsi, who lost her father Sudhansu Behura in her childhood, gives credit to her mother Rekha’s support and inspiration for her feat. She wants to become a successful singer in future to fulfil her father’s dream, says she.
