Odisha lift 9th Hockey India sub-junior boys title

Hockey Odisha lifted the 9th Hockey India Sub Junior Boys National championship beating Uttar Pradesh in a shoot-out by 3 goals to 1 in the final match played on Wednesday at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Hockey Stadium.

K L Verma, Vice Chancellor of the Pt Ravishankar Shukla University gave away the prizes to the winning and runner up teams as chief guest.

In the nail-biting final match, in 24th minute Laban Lugun scored first goal for Hockey Odisha but in the 38th minute Hockey UP equalized. In the 49th minute, Ankit Prajapati of the UP scored another goal to make the tally 1-2 but Prabin of Odisha leveled the score in the 52nd minute. The match was then decided on a shootout, in which Odisha won by 3-1.

Jharkhand was placed in the third position while Sports Authority finished in the fourth position.
