Old police station buildings to be revamped before Kumbh Mela

For the long term and permanent infrastructural works to be undertaken before Kumbh Mela 2021, a survey was conducted by the team of district administration led by the Kumbh Mela officer Deepak Rawat on Wednesday. The team inspected Muni Ki Reti area of Rishikesh and it was decided that the old police station building of Muni Ki Reti will be revamped.

The police station is important and focal point during Kanwad Mela and Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage. Rawat said that a control tower will be made on the site. The detailed project report has been made for the same. The high level committee, formed under the chief secretary of the State, has given consent for this revamping proposal and very soon, a Government order shall be released for the same, said the Mela officer.

Rawat and his team also inspected police station located near Neelkanth in Rishikesh. This building shall also be revamped. Besides these, the team inspected the old bus stand area near Natraj cinema. Stating that the logo of Kumbh Mela shall be released soon, Rawat said that a reward of Rs 1 lakh will be presented for the best suggestion for the Kumbh Mela 2021 logo. Rawat invited the general public to submit their suggestions for the said logo. The Kumbh Mela senior superintendent of police Janmejay Khanduri, additional Mela officer Harvir Singh, Tehri superintendent of police Yogendra Singh Rawat and other departmental officials were also present during the inspections.
