One killed, one injured in road accident

One person died and another was injured in a road accident in Purola area of Uttarkashi district on Wednesday. In another mishap, two buses collided near Dat Kali temple, resulting in more than a dozen persons sustaining injuries.

According to the information provided by the Purola police, two teachers riding a scooty collided head-on with a bus. The deceased teacher has been identified as Vandana (36), a resident of Purola while the injured teacher has been identified as Meenakshi Aggarwal (49).

According to the local police, the accident occurred around 9 am when both the teachers were on their way to the school.

While the deceased’s head was crushed by a tyre of the bus, the injured suffered a sprain in her leg. The injured teacher was later referred to a higher centre.

According to the eye-witnesses, the bus was being driven at speed because of which the scooty riders lost balance and fell on the road. The local police are still investigating the case.

In the other case reported near Dat Kali, two roadways buses of Chutmalpur depot collided with each other.

According to eye witnesses, the impact of the collision was such that one of the buses fell off the road. However, there were no casualties reported in the accident and nearest police teams from both Uttarakhand

and Uttar Pradesh helped the victims get out of the buses safely.

According to sources, because of the traffic congestion that occurred after the accident, fleet of Governor Baby Rani Maurya also had to wait.

However, with the effort of local police the situation was handled and traffic on one side of the road was made operational.
