Online property tax payment service starts for 20 wards

Wednesday, 15 May 2019 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Even after multiple assurances the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has failed to facilitate the online property tax payment service properly. The service was restarted for only 20 wards on Tuesday. Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey stated that the service is for only 20 wards at present. It will be extended to 60 wards by the end of June.

Pandey further said, “The online service failed to work properly because of some issues. The service also needed to have a third party security audit which hampered the whole process midway. However, we have resolved the issue and opened the service for only 20 wards now from Tuesday. The service will be available for the 60 wards probably by the end of June.”

The wards which can avail the services include ward number two Sahastradhara Road, ward number four Hathibadkala, ward number five Aryanagar, ward number 21 Shivaji Marg, ward number 22 Indreshnagar, ward number 23 Dhamawala, ward number 25 Dalanwala, ward numbe 31 Rajivnagar, ward number 32 Defence Colony, ward number 35 Deepnagar, ward number 41 Lakkhibagh, ward number 42 Kargi, ward number 44 Brahmapuri, ward number 45 Niranjanpur, ward number 47 Turner Road, ward number 50 Kanwali Road, ward number 51 Indira Colony, ward number 55 Gandhigram, ward number 56 Yamuna Colony and ward number 60 Kaulagarh. The property tax can be submitted through the website www.dehradunhousetax.in

It is also pertinent to mention here that the online property tax payment service is not new. The service was first started in the year 2014. However, it failed to work as per the plan. More recently in February this year, the service was resumed but again failed to work as required. The officials then assured that the service would start from April 1 but the date got delayed to April 22. After this, some amount of property tax was collected by the officials online however the system failed yet again. The MCD has now finally managed to open the service for only 20 wards for now.
