Miscreants wearing masks looted a panchayat official at gunpoint in Talada panchayat under Astarang block in Puri district on Monday.
The victim was identified as Debendra Swain, who is the Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Talada.
A complaint in connection with the loot incident was lodged at the Kakatpur police station.
Reports said that Swain was robbed of an amount of Rs 2.82 lakh and a mobile phone by the masked men at gunpoint near a crematorium while he was travelling to Khandasahi Ghat by crossing the local river at about 11 am.
The police officials were yet to trace the robbers when the reports came in.
