The sleuths of Delhi Police Special cell have arrested a gangster who was convicted for life, along with his close associate from Najafgarh area.
The duo accused has been identified as, Sandeep Ahlawat alias Dhillu (36) who is sentenced to life imprisonment along with his cousin Varun (30).
“Sandeep is involved in multiple cases while they both are involved in a murder case of Dharuhera, Haryana. Police have also recovered one semi-automatic pistol, one country made pistol with seven cartridges from the possession of the accused,” said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell.
“Gangster Sandeep is a life convict and parole jumper in kidnapping for ransom case. He is wanted in 10 heinous cases while Varun is wanted in eight cases,” said the DCP adding that in February last year Sandeep managed to escape from high risk
custody at Maulana Azad Medical College and Hospital in Delhi with the help of his associates.
“On Monday following a tip off regarding the accused a trap was laid at Najafgarh-Dhansa road. When the police team tried to apprehend them they resisted and whipped out their weapons. However they were overpowered at the spot,” said the DCP.
“After running from the police the duo was hiding in Dharuhera of Haryana where they had shot dead a person and injured another. From past five months they had changed their hideout to Jaipur, Rajasthan,” the DCP added.
