Tension prevailed at the Capital Hospital here on Monday after patients and their attendants failed to avail registration tickets to visit doctors of various departments of the hospital.
The development took place after the staffs at the computerised central registration counter denied them tickets and stopped working alleging nonpayment of their salaries for the last 11 months.
The move of the employees triggered resentment among patients and their attendants who created ruckus at the hospital premises.
“The staffs are claiming that they have not received salary so they would not work. They should have informed about the stir beforehand. We have been in the queue since early morning,” said an attendant.
When questioned, the employees said four of the five computers at the registration counter developed a technical snag some five days back and they have been issuing hand-written tickets since then.
Later, police rushed to the spot and pacified the irate patients and attendants.
