Reviewing the progress of Project Gaushala at the Mantralaya, Chief Minister Kamal Nath instructed that if any person or sanstha wants to open a gaushala, they should be given the right to use Government land. He directed to reconstitute Zila Pashu Kalyan Samitis and constitute Pashu Kalyan Samitis at the block level.

Nath said that the works of Project Gaushala should be accelerated and the deadline should be set and he should be informed about which Gaushala will be started and when.

The Chief Minister said that a movement should be launched for the protection of cows in the state and more and more people should be associated with it. He said that our objective and goal is the same that more and more gaushalas should be opened in the entire state, whether it is at government level or is opened with the help of private sector.

The Chief Minister also told to publicize Project Guashala among non-Resident Indians in foreign countries also. He said that any person / institution interested in cattle farming and protection of cows can meet me. He instructed the Animal Husbandry Department to identify the interested persons and fix an appointment.

Kamal Nath gave instructions to take necessary initiatives to increase the participation of common people in the management of gaushalas. He said that the subsidy amount for cattle feed has been increased to Rs 20 per day. Budget provision will be made for this. He instructed to invite proposals from interested entities to prepare a low cost ideal design of gaushala.

It was told at the meeting that the construction of 955 gaushalas has begun under Gaushala Project. At present 614 gaushalas are in operation in which 1.60 lakh cows are being reared currently. It may be noted that stray cattle in cities and villages will find a shelter in Project Gaushala.

Also, this will reduce the number of road accidents and damage to crops in the fields caused by stray cattle. There are 614 such gaushalas in the state which are in private hands and which get subsidy from the government. The previous government did not even open a single government gaushala.

Animal Husbandry Minister Lakhan Singh Yadav, Chief Secretary SR Mohanty, Additional Chief Secretary Animal Husbandry Manoj Shrivastava and Additional Chief Secretary Finance Anurag Jain were present in the meeting.
