People voted for change in all 20 constituencies: JMM

Sunday, 08 December 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) said on Saturday that after completion of second phase of polling for the State Assembly election, in which voting was held at 20 seats, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not be able to open its account on any seat and at all Scheduled Tribe (ST) reserved seats BJP will bite the dust.

Addressing a press meet, JMM General Secretary and Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya said that other than two or three incidents of violence the total polling was peaceful and the party extends thanks to voters for they cast their votes in such a large number and also thanks to polling staffs that successfully completed the whole process. “It is a good sign that the people of the State voted in such a large numbers and the signal is coming from all 20 seats that they voted for change of the present State Government. Except Jamshedpur East seat, polling per cent is around 60 per cent. People of Jamshedpur East seat not came out from their house due to a candidate whose name they did not want to see in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM),” he added.

Attacking the BJP- led State Government, the party Spokesperson said that BJP is in a state of complete despondency as it knows that it is going to be defeated in this election so that the party is trying to affect polling in its favor by using every nooks and crooks. “At Sisai constituency of Gumla District BJP asked the Central Protection Forces to force people to ensure polling in favour of BJP.

They were forcefully threatening voters to vote on Lotus symbol instead of Bow and Arrow symbol when the voters denied doing this bravely, then the forces started firing on them, which resulted in death of one and four others injured. The people of the seat voted in large numbers, even after the incident took place,” he added.

Bhattacharya said that the party has complained to Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the issue and demanded that ECI should take stern action.

The manner BJP is trying to affect the poll process it seems the democracy will not be saved, he added.
