The president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Pritam Singh and other congress leaders held a road show in Pithoragarh town in support of Congress candidate Anju Lunthi. The president of women wing of the Congress party Sarita Arya and former MLA and local heavy weight Mayuk Mahar accompanied the PCC president and Anju Lunthi during the road show.
Later, addressing the media persons, Pritam Singh claimed that the Congress candidate would secure victory in the Assembly by-elections as people have understood the BJP. He said that the people in all parts of the state are facing problems as the state government has set up district development authorities.
He added that for any construction work in rural areas also one has to get the map sanctioned by these authorities. Pritam Singh said that the chief minister should immediately dissolve these authorities and provide relief to the people. The PCC president also accused the State Government for neglecting the development of Pithoragarh. He said that the Congress Government had set up a base hospital in Pithoragarh and started its construction. “ This hospital was set up as a precursor of a medical college.
Unfortunately not even a single brick was placed in the hospital in last three years,’’ he said. The state Congress president added that the State Government reduced the budget of the Awalaghat drinking water project for which the Congress government had earmarked a budget of Rs 80 crore.
Pritam Singh and the leader of the opposition in state assembly Indira Hridayesh felicitated the newly elected members of three tier Panchayati Raj system on the day.
The voting for the by election would be held on November 25 and the counting of votes would be done on November 28.
