The by-election for Pithoragarh Assembly constituency left vacant by the death of former Finance Minister Prakash Pant would be held on November 25. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand, Sowjanya, said that the notification of the election would be issued on October 30. The last date of the nomination would be on November 6 and the scrutiny of the nomination papers would be done on November 7. The last date of withdrawal of the nomination papers is November 11.
After the voting which would be held on November 25, the counting of votes would be done on November 28.
The CEO said the process of elections would be completed before November 30. The election commission would use Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in this election.
