Following the clarion call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save water, Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted plantation drive at CRPF Camp near ITI More here on Saturday.
Thousands of saplings were planted by Miyawaki technique for plantation surround the camp by CRPF cops and members of Kushal Vikash Mahila Mandal, informed Sita Devi a member of the organisation.
“Aiming to conserve water sapling was planted by ‘Shram Daan’ (voluntary work) under the ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’,” she added.
Trees have played a vital role in human life. Even from an economic point of view, trees have their own importance. By planting trees like Sal, Sagwan, Forest, and Teak, future expenditure can be meted out, said Navin a cop.
CMC Mayor Bholu Paswan urged mass to come forward and conserve water by planting trees in their nearby areas. “Aiming to turn city green we are distributing free sapling too,” Mayor added.
We will not leave any stone unturned for the successes of the campaign, he said.
We have targeted to turn the city into a green zone. Over ten thousand saplings would be planted on the barren as well as empty land under our municipal area, he said.
Explaining Miyawaki plantation technique Gaghender a social activist said this technique is very much popular in Japan. The method involves planting more number of varied tree species close together in a restricted area.
The method can ensure the saplings will grow 10 times faster than regular plants and result in a forest that is 30 times denser, he said.
The principle followed is that when planted, various species and individual trees undergo their own natural process of natural selection through competition that results in the creation of a diverse forest. However, it is more care intensive at stages of plant selection and growth, he said.
