The story of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi became Father of the nation was told through the play Bapu Ki Katha. Besides, the bravery and valour if Phoolkumari Bai was showcased through play Veerangna Rani Phoolkumari.
Both the plays were staged at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium marking the first day of Azad Bansuri Bal Natya Samaroh.
The play Veerangna Rani Phoolkumari was directed by Pradeep Verma and was performed by artists of Peoples Theatre.
Next play showcased entire voyage of Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi was showcased through the play ‘Bapu ki katha.' The play, gives an account of how Champaran transformed ‘Mr Gandhi from South Africa’ and became the site for his first Satyagraha in 1917.
Directed by KG Trivedi, the play was perfomed by the artists of Jawahar Bal Bhavan.
The play highlights the transformation of Gandhi from one of the political leaders to India’s principal political figure to the country’s most revered spiritual personality.
The play aims to highlight instances from Gandhi's early life, much before he became famous as the Mahatma. He was just Mohan then.
The play may not bring any particularly new insights, but there is a friendly, entertaining quality that makes the production enjoyable.
In the introduction of the play audience sees a young Gandhi, who just came from South Africa. Slowly and gradually the major incidents that took place in his life were brilliantly portrayed including the contribution of farmers in Satyagrah and highlighted the ideologies of Gandhi.
The play was brilliantly performed on stage creating a wonderful ambiance on stage which was loved by the audience.
