Combing operations in Maoist-hit areas of Koraput district have been intensified in view of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week being observed by the Red extremists.

While the observance will continue till December 8, special security measures have been undertaken in the Narayanpatna, Bandhugaon, Pottangi, Nandapur, Padua and Lamtaput areas of the district to prevent any untoward incident.

Checking of vehicles is underway at all entry points of the district. Besides, BSF, CRPF and SOG personnel have been put on alert in the Andhra-Odisha border areas.

As part of the precautionary measure, plying of Government buses in various routes of the district has been cancelled.
