Police bust mobile theft gang, recover 40 phones worth Rs 6L

Jehangirabad police have busted a three-member gang engaged in stealing mobile phones from parked scooter and recovered 40 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 6 lakh from their possession on Wednesday; two buyers were also nabbed with the miscreants.

Acting on a tip off regarding three miscreants on scooter near Lily Talkies outpost and when they were asked regarding the scooter they failed to provide details of the scooter and from dickey of scooter five mobile phones were recovered.

The three accused were identified as Zeeshan alias Chand (23), Varun Raikwar (19) and Harshit Patel (19) of Aishbagh. During the further investigation when they were quizzed they confessed stealing of mobile phones from parking of Benazir College and Biral Mandir.

Apart from the two parking spaces the accused targeted  IPS College Khanugaon, Jawahar College Shymala Hills, Bonifee College Ayodhya Nagar, Bhopal Academcy Naveen Nagar, Career College Govindpura, Semra police station Bajaria and Nariyalkheda police station Gautam Nagar. Police have recovered 8 mobile phones each from Zeeshan and Varun while four mobile phones were recovered from Harshit.

Later in the investigation accused confessed that they have sold over a dozen stolen mobile phones to Rizwan and Naresh. Based on the information police nabbed the two who were identified as Rizwan alias Chotu and Naresh Chouhan and recovered 9 mobile phones from Rizwan and 6 from Naresh.

The three miscreants have past crime record. Harshit has been booked by Raisen police for theft while Varun and Zeeshan have been booked for assault by Bhopal police.
