On the direction of Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi, office of Superintendent of Police (traffic) Prakash Chandra Arya has issued notice to Public Works Department (PWD) again for reportedly undertaking digging at Behel Chowk late on Tuesday night.
SP traffic Arya said, “We have issued notice to PWD for starting the digging at Behel Chowk without prior permission from traffic department. They are supposed to submit their response in one week, if they fail to do so or the response is not satisfactory legal actions will be taken against them.”
It is pertinent to mention here that on September 20, SSP Joshi informed the representatives of PWD department that such non-permitted activities create public inconvenience and traffic congestion. He had also said that in the future the departments shall inform traffic department in advance so that police force can be deployed and route plan can be devised accordingly.
However, the digging which started again at midnight on Tuesday disrupted traffic at Behel Chowk.
The cumulative effect of the traffic congestion there could be seen up to Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Astley Hall on either sides.
