Police have nabbed rape and murder accused from Omkareshawar from Khandwa in the morning on Monday; accused had brutally murdered 9-year-old minor before sexually assaulting her on Saturday.

The accused identified as Vishnu Prasad showed no remorse on the heinous crime he committed in the police custody in Khandwa.

A day after the incident locals took to the streets in the area and blocked the area halting traffic and demanding justice. Heavy police was deployed to contain the situation as the infuriated family members and locals were demanding death penalty for the accused. The massive gathering pacified after accused was handcuffed. Senior police officers showed photograph of the accused after which the family members were calmed.

Mandwa basti turned into police bastion which was done to avert any untoward incident as the locals were not willing to give up before the arrest of the accused. The role of mother and sister of the accused would be investigated. In the brutal murder and rape accused police tracked the accused from his native place Khandwa.

Notably the deceased went missing in the evening on Saturday and later found dead in the early morning hours on Sunday.

At around 8 pm victim went missing and when the father of the victim reached police station at around 9.30 he was denied of any help and registering missing complaint. It was only after a local leader intervened the police lodged a missing complaint but failed to show any action.

Gross negligence on the part of the police was witnessed which showed the least interest in discharging their duty resulting in rape and murder of the minor. The family members were denied of help and were alleged that she might have eloped. The family would be given a compensation of Rs 5 lakh which was declared on Monday.
