Police plaint lodged against Haladhar Nag

A  group of writers and journalists on Tuesday lodged a complaint at the Capital police station here seeking action against western Odisha poet Padma Shri Haladhar Nag for allegedly making derogatory remarks on different Odia words.

Nag’s remarks have gone viral in social media and published in sections of media. The video shows some miscreants disparaging ‘Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha’, by dashing it to the gourd. One Achyuta Sipun Khamari has put the video in the Facebook on August 17. Achyuta has also made a violence-instigating statement and challenged law in the video.

The complainants alleged that Nag has been ridiculing different Odia words and hurting sentiments of Odia people in the public regularly. By doing so, Nag has violated Section 153 (A) of the IPC and Odisha Language Act, alleged they.

Scribe Shubhranshu Panda, Prof Ramakanta Mishra, Subas Sarangi Pramitap Satpathy, Kishan Barai, Lingaraj Sahoo, Laxmikant Das, Girish Ranjan Sahoo and Sharada Prasad Mohapatra lodged the police complaint.
