Polish team scales peak

Thursday, 13 June 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

According to the sources in Pithoragarh district, five members of the Polish team that had reached Nanda Devi East Base Camp on July 5 have climbed the peak despite the clear directions from District administration to desist from doing so. When asked about this, the Pithoragarh DM said they will be verifying it from the Munsyari sub divisional magistrate. It will be recalled that the Polish group had earlier been stopped at Nanda Devi Base camp. They were earlier asked to suspend their plan to trek on the route on May 31 immediately after the district administration received the information of eight stranded mountaineers on the mountain. They had secured the permission earlier from Munsyari sub divisional magistrate. They had started their trek on May 27 to Nanda Devi East peak.
