Political parties in Chhattisgarh have welcomed the ‘elector certification programme’ to be conducted during the special brief revision of electoral roll.
The parties conveyed their support to the move at a meeting convened by Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh.
The elector certification programme will commence from September 1.
Political parties said it will encourage active involvement of electors as they themselves can rectify any errors in their name, address or other details and also that of their family members. The cut-off date for new electoral roll is January 1, 2020.
Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh Subrat Sahoo in detail briefed the representatives of political parties on the electoral certification programme.
He said as per schedule, the programme will commence on September 1 and conclude on September 30. The certification of elector’s basic information will be done including that of their family members.
The contact numbers of electors will be collected and suggestions regarding future polling centres will also be taken.
The electors for self certification can take assistance of N.V.S.P, voter helpline app, state level toll free number 1800-2331-1950 or district level toll free number 1950.
The CEO stated that as per the initiative electors can add their name, delete or correct any other information by themselves. They can also provide information of their family members. Under which, deletion of names of those having dead or transferred can be done. The certification work will also be undertaken through booth level officers through door-to-door collection of data.
