With an objective to checking the preparedness of the state police force for the ensuing Lok Sabha election, the director general of police (DGP) Anil Kumar Raturi held a video conferencing session with all the senior police officers of the state on Tuesday.
He stressed that the use of police forces should be done judiciously during the polls. He directed the district in -charges to thoroughly understand the guidelines of the election commission and ensure their implementation. He further said that the district in- charges should ensure that every policeman under them exercises his voting right. He added that an election cell in every district with a nodal officer would be constituted. The DGP also directed the officers to assess vulnerability of the sensitive and the- hyper sensitive polling stations.
Expressing concern on the number of verification of arm licenses not satisfactory, DGP said that things should improve. He said that action under provisions of CRPC, Gunda and Gangster act should be taken against the mischievous elements active in the state. He also said that the proper staying arrangements for the personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CASF), home guards and PAC should be made. The DGP added that border meetings with the states having boundaries with Uttarakhand would be held and fast transfer of relevant information would be ensured.
The meeting was attended among others by director general, Crime, law and order Ashok Kumar, additional director general (ADG) administration, intelligence V Vinay Kumar, inspector general (IG) Law and Order Deepam Seth and IG Crime, law and order Sanjay Gunjyal.
