Post revision, number of voters down by 1.2 lakh

Though the number of total eligible voters’ population in the national Capital has increased but there is a slight dip in the total number of electors this year. As per the report of the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) of Delhi, the number of total electors on the date October 10, 2018  was 1,38,14,866 whereas this year as on date January  18, it stands at  1,36,95,291. 

Moreover, the largest number of voters in Delhi are males between the age group of 70-79 and 80 plus as compared to other genders.

As per the data, a total number of 86,375 male and 33,134 female electors have  decreased this year. In 2018, there were a total number 76,42,521 male electors, while this year it is 75,38,335. In 2018, the total number of female electors was 61,71,469 whereas it is 61,38,335 this year.

There is also a decrease in the number of third gender electors.

In 2017, total 876 third genders electors were calculated while in this year it has come down to 810.

Interestingly there has been a rise in the number of fresh voters between the age group 18-19 and the middle age group (40-49), elder voters (age up to 70-79 and 80+).

The voters in the age group of 18-19 and 40-49 has been increased from 632 to 706 and 809 to 822. The number of voter between the age group 70-79 and 80+ has been increased from 1037 to 1059 and from 952 to 972.

Further, there is a reduction between the age group of 60-69 as the number of voters last year was 905 while this year it is 893.

However, the officials at  CEO Delhi said that there is an increase in the number of electors as compared to the general elections 2014.

“Total electors during last general elections held in 2014 were 1,27,06,366 whereas electors as per final roll published on 18th January,2019 are 1,36,95,291 which is an increase of 9,88,925 (7.78 percent).

The electors are likely to increase further during continuous updation before the general election 2019,” said the official.
