Posters urge women to join Maoist fold

Saturday, 07 December 2019 | PNS | MALKANGIRI

On the fifth day of the Maoists’ PLGA Week on Friday, posters and banners urging women to join their organisation surfaced at several places in the Kalimela region of Malkangiri district.

In the posters, the Red rebels have threatened people to punish them in Kangaroo courts if they pass on any information or act as police informers.

As a precautionary measure for the PLGA, Week, the operation of Government bus services in the Leftwing extremist-infested districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal have been suspended.

The district police, Special Operations Group, BSF and CRPF are on high alert and intensified patrolling and combing operations to prevent any violence by the ultras. Frisking of vehicles is also being carried out in the sensitive areas.

The Maoists observe PLGA Week every year to commemorate their comrades killed in the police encounters over the years. Usually, they take out rallies and address public gatherings during the week-long event to pay tributes to their slain comrades.
