Narrating the horrible tale of alleged custodial torture against her, BJP Bhopal candidate Pragya Thakur, launched her campaigning in Bhopal on Thursday. She also indulged in personal attacks on Digvijay Singh, the Congress candidate from the parliamentary seat.
Addressing the party workers of Huzur assembly segment in Bhopal, Thakur broke down while narrating the alleged custodial tortures inflicted on her after being arrested in connection with 2008 Malegaon blasts.
“On day one I wasn’t asked anything and was beaten up by leather belts and wasn’t offered food for 24 hours and only was given water,” said the sadhvi. I was bashed with belts round the clock for several days and they just wanted to make me accept involvement in blasts.
My hands were dipped in salted water and was persistently threatened to be hanged upside down and also threatened to be disrobed, said the 46-year-old seer.
Thakur was inducted in BJP on Wednesday and named as Bhopal candidate. I was put under narco, polygraph test and brain mapping thrice each and it was because of the chemicals used in the process, I developed cancer, said Thakur who is out on bail in 2008 Malegaon blasts.
Describing her ordeal, Thakur alleged her backbone was broken and she was bedridden for nine years and could not even move. There were also attempts to eliminate me in encounter, she alleged further.
“I was resolute that you can beat me, break me, kill me but can’t make me say what you wish to,” she added.
Without naming Digvijay Singh, Thakur warned public against ‘imported candidate’ sitting in Bhopal who have distorted mindset and conspire against the nation. Our nation was in danger, Thakur said because of these traitors.
She urged the party workers not to sit comfortably until the polling was done. The BJP candidate also alleged that talking about saffron terrorism was like raping the bhagwa.
The seer turned politician also drew an episode of Sita’s abduction from epic Ramayana for attacking Digvijaya Singh and his second wife Amrita Singh. She claimed the one who is in fourth stage of life –sanyas, snatches someone’s else’s wife, his daughter’s age and later makes her say that she was with him with consent.
Thakur also dubbed this bad character and disrespect to women.
