BJP’s controversial leader Prakash Bajaj was on Sunday booked on the charges of allegedly sexually harassing and criminally intimidating a woman of Raipur city, police said.
“He was arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand,” Station House Officer (SHO) Civil Line Mohsin Khan informed.
According to the SHO, a woman had recently registered a complaint against Bajaj that in 2016 she had provided the accused Rs 10 lakh as he had promised to get a house for the complainant in Raipur, the SHO said.
However, Bajaj did not arrange house for the complainant. When the victim demanded her money back, Bajaj used to call her at his office but never returned back the money, SHO added.
Later on, Bajaj started to make wrong moves and tried to touch inappropriately. When the complainant warned him of lodging FIR against him, Bajaj boasted of having strong political connection and said nothing would happen to him, the SHO mentioned.
Bajaj was booked under Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Notably, Bajaj was the complainant of a sleaze CD episode last year which was linked to the former minister and BJP leader Rajesh Munat.
