Prime suspects marked in Samarjahan murder

Friday, 10 May 2019 | PNS | DEHRADUN

In the sensational murder case of Samarjahan who was shot thrice on the night of May 7 in Sahastradhara Road locality, sources state that the prime suspects in the case are the family members of businessman Rakesh Kumar Gupta, with whom Samarjahan was reported to be in a live-in relationship.

Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Choubey said on Thursday, “The investigation is still going on. The main purpose was to catch the culprits who were involved directly with the crime.

We have interrogated few more people, who were in contact with her.”Investigating Officer of this case sub inspector Umesh Kumar said, “It is still uncertain as to how many people were present in the car that was used on the said night.

We have zeroed in on the prime suspects. Some other illicit relationship of Samarjahan is also an aspect we are working on.”

As per the sources, police interrogated the family members of Rakesh Kumar Gupta including his wife and two sons, after which it came to light that there was tension for the last one year after the discovery of his relationship with Samarjahan. Police were earlier considering former husband of Samarjahan as a suspect too.

However, if sources are to be believed, now it appears that someone or more than one person in the Gupta family may have hired a contract killer from Muzaffarnagar to murder Samarjahan. It is also worth mentioning that deceased Samarjahan and Rakesh Kumar Gupta knew each other since before her marriage. The Gupta family discovered the nature of their relationship a year ago.
