Chhattisgarh government on Friday ordered a probe into encroachment in famous Dalpat-Sagar Lake in Jagdalpur, the headquarters of Bastar district.
Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agrawal announced this in the assembly following an instruction from Speaker Charandas Mahant.
Mahant gave instruction after Congress legislator Mohan Markam raised the issue during question hour. Stating that ancient lake was of a vital importance, the Congress member said that almost one fourth of the lake had been encroached. He also demanded a probe into the matter. JCC (J) legislator and former chief minister Ajit Jogi also in a supplementary question stated the lake was of great importance, and demanded a probe into the entire matter.
The Revenue Minister said the probe report would be tabled in the next session of the state assembly.
