Procession taken out to mark 525th Chandracharya Jayanti

A huge procession was taken out on the occasion of the 525th birth anniversary of Shri Chandracharya. The district administrative officials, police personnel, Kumbh Mela officer and ascetics took out procession starting from Chandracharya Chowk to Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin Akhada at Kankhal Rajghat. Mela officer, Deepak Rawat, and Mela IG, Sanjay Gunjyal, started the procession by breaking coconut before the idol of Chandracharya at the crossing.

The procession traversed through the main bazaar of Kankhal township and culminated at Rajghat. Highlighting the life of Bhagwan Chandracharya, Deepak Rawat said that living a life of simplicity and austerities, he removed many social evils from the society of his time. He gave society a new direction and his views will be relevant in all ages and the times to come. The district magistrate of Haridwar, Deependra Chaudhari, said that the life of Chandracharya is worth emulating. He removed darkness from the society and led towards enlightenment.  Mahant Raghumuni Maharaj said that he was an incarnation of Lord and son of Guru Nanak who played a major role in uniting all the the communities.

The legislator from Laksar, Sanjay Gupta, ADM Harveer Singh, SP City Kamlesh Upadhyay, Shrimahant Raghumuni of Bada Akhada and many others were present in the procession.
