The progress of the ambitious Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana (AAUY) and implementation was reviewed by Chairman of the AAUY, D K Kotia and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the scheme, Arunendra Singh Chauhan on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by the medical superintendents (MS) of six medical colleges of the state, Arogya Mitras appointed in these hospitals and the officials associated with the scheme. In the meeting the chairman also took feedback of the scheme during the last year and shared the experiences.

He said that the enlisted hospitals are getting reimbursements on time and in case of technical issues, the claims are being settled after careful inspection and audit at the level of the state health agency. On a stern note, Kotia said that in no case the hospitals should charge money from the patients covered under the scheme.

The CEO of the scheme, Arunendra Chauhan explained in detail the process of claim settlement. He said that there should not be any lack of communication in this respect. Chauhan said that everyone should contribute in success of this scheme.

In the meeting, the Arogya Mitras appointed in the hospitals were informed about their duties. They were directed that responsibility of delivering right and timely treatment lies with the Arogya Mitras. It was decided that a workshop for Arogya Mitras would soon be held.

Launched on December 25, 2018, the AAUY provides a cover of Rs 5 lakh per annum to all 23 lakh families of Uttarakhand in the panelled hospitals under the scheme. The scheme is considered as a dream project of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.

Patients can avail benefit of the scheme for 1350 types of diseases in the panelled hospitals. For treatment in the private empanelled hospitals, the patients are needed to be referred from the government hospitals.

As per the provisions of the scheme, the patients should be referred only when the required treatment is not available in the Government centres.
