Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Rajeev Arora on Tuesday said that the Central Government has been urged to provide two lakh Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits worth about Rs 22 lakh for the testing of malaria which would be distributed in districts Nuh, Palwal and Yamunanagar.

Arora said that during last years, more cases of malaria were reported in these districts as compare to other districts, for which special monitoring is being carried out in these districts.

He said that in order to meet the requirement of various hospitals in the state, 57 microscopes would be purchased by the end of this month, which would be worth about Rs 20 lakh. Apart from this, 18 fogging machines will be procured for nine districts including Charkhi Dadri, Fatehabad, Nuh, Palwal, Gurugram, Panipat, Rewari, Rohtak and Jhajjar. Each district will be given 2 machines, he said.

Arora said that 107 high-risk sub-centres have been identified in the state, which will be covered under the Indoor Residual Spray (IRS).

He said that to get rid of mosquitoes, 4.86 lakh medicated mosquito nets have been ordered, which will be distributed this month among highly mosquito-affected villages. Apart from this, 280 Volunteers will be deputed in different areas of the state, who will go to the houses from June to November 2019 to check mosquito breeding.

 Mission Director of National Health Mission, Amneet P. Kumar said that arrangements have been made to check and treat fever patients by visiting their houses in the state. Gambusia fish has been released in 3,909 ponds of the state so that larvae of mosquitoes would not grow. Apart from this, awareness camps are being organised in schools to make children aware about malaria and vector-borne diseases, she said.

She added that the case of malaria has decreased from 9,308 in 2015 to just 111 so far this year whereas as compared to 9,921 cases of dengue, only two cases have so far been reported this year.
