Punjab to set up hi-tech cycle valley at Ludhiana

Punjab Government, as a part of its well-conceived strategy to bolster industrial sector in the State and providing job avenues to the youth, would establish a high tech cycle valley in 383 acres at Dhanansu village in Ludhiana district.

“The modalities, with regard to purchasing the required 383-acre land, have been completed whereas the layout plan has also been accorded approval.

 The project would entail the cost of Rs 300 crore,” said the state Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Sunday.

He said that the Punjab Government is working diligently towards setting up such industrial units in the state which would serve the twin purpose of being environmental-friendly and providing employment avenues to the youth.

“The requisite clearances in connection with establishing the cycle valley in Ludhiana have been taken besides those from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change in August 2018,” he said.

Adding that a 100-acre plot has been allotted and the possession given to the Hero Cycles Limited, Ludhiana, in December 2018 for setting up of its main unit.

Arora said that Hero Cycles Limited, Ludhiana, has set the target of commencing production by April 2022.

The Minister said that the Cycle Valley would be connected with the Chandigarh-Ludhiana National Highway by constructing a 100 feet wide four-laned and 8.5 km long external road.

Furthermore, two and four laned roads would also come up at the cycle valley with regard to which the tenders have been opened for technical and financial bids and the allotment of work is under process.

Sharing more details, Arora said that IL and FS has submitted estimates closely examined by the Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College regarding internal roads, boundary walls, draining of flood water, water supply network and water sewerage.

All these estimates are being re-examined by the PSIEC, he said adding that the basic facilities of the infrastructural nature are expected to be put in place by March 2021.
