Police on Monday detained four persons for questioning in connection with the brutal murders of three members of a family of Sadanandpur village under the Satyabadi police station on Sunday evening at Pattnaikiya Chhack on the Puri–Bhubaneswar National Highway.
Police also identified all the 11 persons named in the FIR. The cops also seized six swords which were used for the crime and the CCTV footages obtained from near the crime scene.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their family members after postmortem.
On Monday, however, tension prevailed in Sadanandpur village and all the shops remained closed at Pattnaikiya Chhack. Three platoons of police force were deployed to prevent any further untoward incident.
Puri SP Umashankar Mishra said all the accused involved in the killings or who hatched the conspiracy have been identified and efforts were on to nab them soon.
Sources said the reason behind the crime was a property dispute between two families of the village. But the deceased’s family members alleged that though they had lodged a complaint against the accused earlier, the Satyabadi police did not take any action against them.
